Summer has gone by way too fast for me! Where did it go to? Did you get to work on any quilt projects? I have been very busy this summer making new samples for classes I will be teaching at The Hobby Horse in Glen Williams and I am also teaching classes at Singer-The Sewing Mart in Brampton's Shoppers World. Selling sewing machines is something a little diffierent for me but I enjoy it. It's nice to go to work when you enjoy your job, and I do like all of my jobs that I do. It's also time for our quilting guild meetings and quilt shows. I will be a merchant at the Magic of Cloth Quilt Show in October at the Orangeville Fairgrounds. This quilt show is put on by the members of the Dufferin Piecemakers Quilt Guild. It is a wonderful group of talented quilters, and I'm sure you will enjoy. I hope to be able to see you there. I will have some kits for sale, Schmetz machine needles, silk threads, fat quarters and also some finished quilted items. Have a super nice weekend. Enjoy this fall weather we are having.

Hello there! Yesterday was Canada Day, and a holiday for most of us here in Canada. How did you spend your July 1st? I spent my day quilting a very lovely quilt for a client. Such nice bright lime greens, blues, and mixed with black and white prints. Beautifully pieced and a pleasure to quilt.
It's summertime and I love it! I like the sun shining, the birds chirping, the longer daylight hours...perfect weather. Perfect weather to sit outside and do some applique or hand sewing. Get outside and sit awhile and enjoy those wonderful days. Extra vitamin D for us!
How is your summer starting? Are you working on something special? For our American neighbours, have a safe and Happy July 4th. Enjoy your day.

Last night I was a guest speaker at the Dunville Quilt Guild and enjoyed a lovely pot luck picnic dinner. All the ladies were so welcoming and made me feel very relaxed. I brought my trunk show of quilts that show some of the projects that have been made as samples of my quilting skills. I don't often have a chance to quilt some of my own quilt tops but when I do get a chance it is usually to try some new ideas for designs. I love to machine quilt on my Gammill and my clients have been very supportive and happy with what I have done for them.

Well, today I decided to take a bit of a break from quilting so that I could enjoy the great outdoors with my daughter and granddaughter. We put the dogs in the car along with the stroller for Maddie and off we went to the park. First we went to the Sandalwood Creditview Park. Still under some construction but we walked around the grounds. Since the walk was short and the morning was still cool we decided we would check out Chingacousy Park at Bramalea Road and Queen Street. It had been twenty years since we had been to Ching Park. Wow, many changes since then! A very busy park with lots of fun things to do. You can visit animals at the Petty Zoo, see the tropical plants in the Greenhouse, play a little mini golf, get wet in the water park, or just walk the park on the many paved walkways like we did. When we got back to the car, the thermometer inside the car was reading 40C and the outside thermometer at the park was saying it was 34C and it was only 11am! Thank goodness for air conditioned cars. How was your day?

If you have visited my shoppe in Erin you would probably have been greeted Sadie. She is a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and she is so lovable! Sadie has just arrived back home this afternoon. She was staying with Mary Beth owner of Embee Cavalier(her other owner). Mary Beth was showing Sadie in a dog show in Kitchener last weekend, and we both are proud that Sadie finished 2nd in her class. What a show off! Sadie loves being with Mary Beth and being in the show ring. I missed Sadie very much and I am happy to have her back home with me.
How about you, do you have a special pet in your life?

Welcome to our new home!
Cheryl has closed the retail store, Alice's Quilt Shoppe, after 10 years in Erin. It's a great big change but we're still going to be available to you in our Brampton home.
Do you need wide backing fabrics for your quilts? We have some.
Do you need batting for your quilt? We have some of them too.
Machine quilting is what I really like to do, so that is what I will focus my attention to, and I hope you will still visit me in Brampton and let me finish your quilt tops for you.
Cheryl is currently booking machine quilting services for June 2013. Call or email me today.
Until next time...

Well, I can't believe how fast that summer went by. Labour Day holiday is just a few days away. We have a had a nice summer though busy. And so far a nice week of warm (hot) sunny days with a crazy rain storm late this afternoon. Kids will be going back to school next week. Many quilt stores have been busy posting new class schedules for the fall. I will be doing some teaching at the local quilt store here in Fergus. Have you been to Undercover Quilts and More in Fergus? It's a great little quilt shop with lots of classes to keep you sewing. Visit Virginia and see what lovely fabrics she has available for you to keep you quilting.
Have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.
